Friday night ride!

Now don't get too excited, this isn't the beginning of our official weekly Friday night rides just yet. Give us a few more weeks to gain a bit of daylight, then we'll get serious!

In the meantime, we know many of you will have the day off or maybe just a half day of work on Friday, so we thought we'd put together a road ride on our favorite Friday night route - Clinton Road! For this Friday, April 2nd, meet us at the usual place - the Village Square Inn parking lot on Rt. 23 in Newfoundland - at 5 p.m. Don't worry if you're a bit rusty, or even if you've never done a big group road ride. We'll set up an "A" and a "B" group to take care of everyone's needs!

So come on out, work off some of the calories you're going to have from that big chocolate Easter Bunny, and join us Friday night! Any questions, you know where to go - info@teamtowncycle.com .

Last Minute Announcement for Mountain Bike Ride

For anyone who would rather ride in the woods than on the road on Sunday, we'll have a group meeting at Waywayanda on Sunday, March 28. We'll meet at the boat launch parking lot at 8:30 a.m. Dust off that mountain bike and come join us!

Any questions - well, you know the drill .... info@teamtowncycle.com

On the road again!

A ride for those of you looking to get re-acquainted with your road bike! Let's meet Sunday morning at Town Cycle, be ready to ride at 9 a.m. Remember to be considerate of those attending church next door! We'll do 25-35 miles, moderate pace. It'll be a chance to clear out the cobwebs and get moving again!

Good luck to our road racing contingent going to Branchbrook Saturday morning - and don't forget the Augusta training series continues on Tuesdays up at the Sussex County Fairgrounds! All details for both series are on our calendar.

Any questions, drop us a line, and have a great weekend!

Weekend plans

Finally - good weather! No snow! No rain! No 50 mph winds! And to top it off - Saturday is the first day of spring! So here are our weekend plans ...

Friday, March 19 - Spin classes at Kor Fitness in West Milford. Even with the increased daylight hours, it's still a little bit hard to pull off an after work ride. Join us at 6:30 p.m. for a great workout to start your weekend! We need to keep track of the numbers, so please let us know if you are coming - RSVP to either TTC atinfo@teamtowncycle.com or to our intrepid instructor Greg at gregmuniz@netscape.net .

Sunday, March 21 - a high mileage, moderate paced ride to Bear Mountain. We're looking to get some serious miles in on this ride, and to practice our pace lines, so if you've never ridden a road ride in a large group, this ride might not be for you - it's between an "A" and "B" level ride. Meet at West Milford High School, and be ready to roll at 12 noon. Here's a cue sheet for those who are interested in the route. http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/nj/west-milford/369126671330622751

We're still working on a possible ride for Saturday - we'll let you know if we come up with something!

As always, any questions, let us know. Enjoy this spring weather!

Jungle Habitat Trail Work Canceled!

OK, we give up - due to the ridiculous amount of rain we received, we're canceling our trail work for Sunday at Jungle Habitat. We'll try again next month on April 14th ... and it just may take that long for it to dry out!

Road racing news and notes!

This past Saturday was the first race of the Branchbrook Spring Training Series in Newark, NJ. Team Town Cycle braved the early start times (7:15 a.m.!!!) and made their season debut in style, with our own Jason Grossi finishing 12th in the Cat 4/5 race, and Matt Kuchavik and BJ Kisch coming through with flying colors! The series continues every Sat. for the month of March. For those who are interested, details are here - http://tinyurl.com/ygd9pf4
UPDATE - Branchbroook canceled for Saturday, March 13 because of flooding concerns! Join them next Saturday!

If Saturdays aren't good for you, try out the Augusta Training Series at the Sussex County Fairgrounds on Tuesday nights. It's another great way to try out road racing! For more info on their series, visit their website at http://www.skylandscycling.com/fairgrounds10/ .

Great job guys! If you get a chance, come out and support our racers - maybe you'll get inspired to join them!

Updates and reminders

Just a few quick updates and reminders!

  1. The Team Town Cycle uniform order is due March 15!! If anyone needs another copy of the order form or sizing chart, let us know. We want to get the order in ASAP, so don't procrastinate or you will miss out!
  2. Another Team Town Cycle exclusive - don't forget our special 20% off LAS Helmets deal! All sizes are available for try out at Town Cycle, so come down to the shop, have Michael fit you, and get a great deal on a great helmet.
  3. The weather might not be perfect yet for riding, but it's perfect for spin classes! Don't forget - Friday nights, 6:30 p.m. at Kor Fitness on Union Valley Road in West Milford. First come, first served. Please RSVP to either us or Greg Muniz at gregmuniz@netscape.net so we can get a head count - thanks!
  4. Sunday is the first day of daylight savings - and the first day of trail work day for 2010 at Jungle Habitat! Given the conditions that we'll likely be encountering, our focus will be on clearing branches and access ways for the new trails we'll be working on this year. Yes, it'll be muddy, and a little wet, but it should be in the 50's Sunday, so come out and join us! Check out our calendar for all the details - and don't forget to turn your clock ahead!
Finally, we saw this in the news this week regarding Google Maps and planning bicycling routes - http://tinyurl.com/ylp36ya . If anyone tries it out, let us know how it works!

As always, let us know if you have any questions - info@teamtowncycle.com.
