Reminders, renewals, and kit orders!
To everyone who didn't get to our TTC dinner last week, not to worry! We have links for everything you need.
- Team membership renewal is right here. If you are planning on ordering any new kit pieces, you can renew right on the same page!
- Team kit orders! Once again, we are using Verge as our kit supplier - the feedback has been very good on them. All prices are the same as last time, and the design is basically the same. Our order deadline is January 31 - no exceptions. As before, we will need a minimum order of 6 of any item (regardless of size) - if we are unable to fill an item order, we will let you know and refund your money. Also, we are again having the club member kit special - $110 for a Traffo jersey and shorts (bib or regular). This is for renewed 2013 club members only! Place your order through BikeReg, and when you pick up your order, you will receive your credit (cash!).
- Looking ahead to warmer weather - registration for a few local races is already online. Registration is already open for the Bearscat 50 and the Stewart 6 Pack on BikeReg, and the Singlespeedapalooza registration opens on February 3. Start planning your calendar now!
We'll be back later with some weekend plans - stay tuned!

Update on Chris Zach
For those of you who have not heard, brand new Team Town Cycle member Chris Zach suffered a serious training crash. The latest news that we have is that he broke his neck at the C5 disc. Fortunately, we understand there is no paralysis, and he has full-range of motion in all limbs. Stitches, bruises, temporary amnesia are the extent of injuries after 2 day stay in Suffern Hospital.
Chris, we are thinking of you, and hoping for your full and speedy recovery!

Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! We at Team Town Cycle hope you all had a wonderful holiday season filled with family, friends and fun, and a little relaxation thrown in for good measure!
We're starting to think ahead already, to spring and beyond, so we have a few notes and reminders for everyone.
- It's renewal time - your membership renewal for Team Town Cycle for 2011 is now due! If you didn't get a chance to renew at our annual dinner in November, please grab the very short renewal form here. Print it and fill it out, and either mail it with your check to the P.O. Box address listed on the form, or drop it off to Mike at the shop.
- Anyone who has a USA Cycling license has, by now, received their renewal notice via email. Due to some snafu's at USA Cycling's end, Team Town Cycle is currently not shown as a valid club on their site. We know about it, we have a few people working on it, and we hope to have it all straightened out within the next few days. We'll let you know when everything is all set! As you do send in your renewals, it is important to make sure you select Team Town Cycle as your team/club - it lets USA Cycling know that we have an active membership, and gives you and us proper credit in your rankings and results!
- Speaking of USA Cycling, if you raced in 2010 with a one day license, think about getting an annual license for 2011! If you want to participate in any of the national events that take place throughout the year, you'll need a national ranking, and you can only get that with an annual license. It makes registering through BikeReg easier, it makes "day of" registration easier, and again, as a team/club - it gives us strength in numbers! Plus, when you are ready to move up from Cat. 2 to Cat. 1, you can only do that with an annual license - maybe this will be that year!
From everyone at Team Town Cycle, thank you for all of your support and help throughout 2010. We couldn't do it without you, and we look forward to new fun and adventures in 2011!

Housekeeping
Howdy all -
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your friends and family! Have a few housekeeping items to catch up on, so here goes ...
- It's membership renewal time! Many of you renewed at the Team Town Cycle dinner last month - thank you! For those of you who didn't, please find our very short renewal form here. You can either return it to the P.O. Box, or drop it off at Town Cycle at your convenience. We'd like to wrap up renewals by the end of the year, if possible.
- One last, final, absolutely final final - no really, we mean it this time - FINAL call for TTC kit orders! We need your order forms in, and PAID IN FULL, by Saturday, December 4. As above, you can mail them to the P.O. Box or drop them off at Town Cycle. If you need an order form, let us know - we'll get one out to you.
- A few lost and found items from our fabulous Party 4 Marty - all kids items. Pink fleece jacket size 2t from L.L. Bean, white vest full zipper size L with little pink palm tree on the front(Lilly Pulitzer), dark red jacket full zip from Tony Hawk size 10/12 Kohls. Let us know if any of these things belongs to you - we'll make arrangements to get them back to you.
- Finally, and importantly - for those of you who are riding out in the woods - please remember both firearm deer hunting season and bear hunting season starts on December 6 and continues until December 11. Most state park properties are involved in these seasons, so please take that into consideration when you make your plans for riding next week! More information about hunting in NJ state parks can be found here.
As always, any questions - drop us a line at info@teamtowncycle.com!

Most of you who read here are already Team Town Cycle members. For those of you who are not, here are a few more reasons to join us!
- Group fun - no matter what the weather! In the past few weeks, we've organized both snow shoe and cross country skiing outings - a little something for all!
- Special fitness opportunities. For the months of February and March, we've been enjoying specially designed, cycling oriented fitness classes at Komodo's. This week we are starting our Team Town Cycle members only spin classes at Kor Fitness in West Milford. When the weather finally turns, we'll be ready to ride. Will you?
- This month's special Team Town Cycle members only deal at Town Cycle is on LAS Helmets. Next month - another members only exclusive deal. This doesn't include the special discounts available to you everyday at Town Cycle as a TTC member. What will you miss out on?
- We're getting ready to order our Team Town Cycle uniforms for 2010 - from Primal Custom, a great American company. Great deals on great riding kits - but only for team members!

Weekday events
Howdy all - three events for everyone this week. First is a reminder that we are still doing our I Dig Tuesdays trail work events at Jungle Habitat each Tuesday evening. Check our Calendar page at www.teamtowncycle.com for more details. We have lots of plans for the area, so please come out and join us!
Secondly is our Wednesday mountain bike ride - at a special location this week! Club member Greg Muniz has a new area of trails in the Awosting area that he is anxious to show us. Meet us at 5:30 at Greg's house, 7 Greenwood Avenue in the Awosting section of West Milford.
Finally, don't forget our Wednesday ladies road ride on Clinton Road. Meet us at the Village Square Inn on Rt. 23 in Newfoundland at 6 p.m. All ability levels welcome!
As usual, the weather dictates all - a slight rain or quick splash/dash shower won't stop us, but steady rain or thunder and lightening will!

General ride information
Now that we are starting to stack our Team Town Cycle calendar with rides, rides and more rides, this would probably be a good time to go over some basic information for rides, weather conditions, meeting times, etc.
Our Weather Policy - As a general rule, if it's raining hard enough that you wouldn't want to cut the lawn, we more than likely will not be riding in it either. If there is severe weather predicted (lightning, hail, snow, etc.), we definitely won't be riding. On road rides, if it is a scheduled ride specifically for new riders or juniors who are still learning to handle a bike, we'll cancel - wet roads are no place to learn! For mountain bike rides, our policy is to remain OFF fragile mountain bike trails when there is rain or deep mud, and stick to fire roads and carriage trails.
That being said, you never know when it comes to northern New Jersey weather. It could be raining down in the 287 valley, snowing in West Milford, and sunny in between. What we are saying is ... be flexible - and be prepared! You might be surprised at the weather we ride in! With proper clothing and common sense, a little water never stopped a ride. If the weather looks "iffy" or unpredictable, come with a rain cape and be ready to get wet. It could be sunny when a ride begins, and pouring at the halfway point.
We will do our best not to make any last minute changes, but keep your eyes open and check the Team Town Cycle website for last minute time or ride schedule changes. If the weather looks bad in the A.M. and better in the P.M., we may "swap" a morning ride for an afternoon ride. Either way, we are all just looking for a way to get out there and ride, have fun, and keep the rubber side down!
Our Meet/Leave Policy - Our intent is to leave promptly at the designated ride time. We understand people plan other events around ride times, so it is important we do our best to keep on schedule. However, if you are coming and are running late, give a quick call. If possible, we will try to have someone hang back for you.
Parking Courtesy - Common sense prevails here, but worth a reminder. Some of our rides meet at the parking lots of local businesses. They are providing this space as a courtesy and convenience to us, and it is important that we don't abuse it. When we meet at Town Cycle, please be aware of activities at both the shop and at the church, and park accordingly. For rides meeting at The Village Square Inn - again, let's not use the spaces right next to the front door. Also, perhaps we could express our appreciation for the use of their lots through the purchase of a post ride Clif bar/adult beverage/slice of pizza? Wherever we park, let's remember to show some manners!
We'll be posting more rides later today, so check back in with us to see if you can join us as we hit the roads and the trails!
