Bowling for Marty Party!

We wanted to tell you about a fundraiser that one of Kelly Tranes' friends is holding for Marty. Danielle Scheurich, who is holding this fundraiser as a part of her senior year project, is having a Bowl for Marty Party on Feb 5th from 6pm-9pm at Pin Street Bowling Alley on Route 94 in Warwick NY (across from Shop Rite). Tickets cost $15 and entitle the buyer to 3 games, food, drinks, shoes and music! Danielle will also be selling some "Marty's Mega Fans" bracelets at the party as well. Proceeds will benefit both the Tranes family and the Great Strides Foundation.

For more information, please contact Danielle directly at danielle4993@yahoo.com . We hope you can come out and support Danielle, Marty, and the Great Strides foundation, which does such great work on behalf of those afflicted with CF.

And thanks Danielle!!!

Late reminder

Sorry for the late reminder - but remember we'll be climbing tonight at the Gravity Vault on Rt. 17 North in Upper Saddle River tonight from 6-9 p.m. Another storm is on the way, so come on out tonight and have some fun before you have to spend another half a day shoveling!!

Need a coach?

Everyone at Team Town Cycle is excited to announce that one of our own is now a USA Cycling Level 3 certified cycling coach!

To those of you who know him or have ridden with him, it will come as no surprise - BJ Kisch is always there to offer advice on everything from equipment to riding style to nutrition. He's manned the pit area for many a racer, is always one of the loudest cheerleaders out there on the race course, is a tireless advocate for racers and racing - both on the road and in the woods, and is one of the hardest training riders out there!

Congratulations BJ - thanks for all you do to help all of our racers in the trenches! If you want to contact BJ to discuss coaching or training, drop him a line at bkisch2000@yahoo.com .

Hope everyone is staying warm on this frigid day! Here are a few things to look forward to!
  • Just a quick reminder that we will be climbing tonight at the Gravity Vault in Upper Saddle River. Join us at 6 p.m. Directions can be found here
  • Registration is open for the famous (or is it infamous?!) Singelspeed-a-polooza, to be held at Stewart State Forest in Newburgh, NY on April 17, put on by our friends at Dark Horse Cycles. They will close registration at some point, so don't delay! This event is pre-reg only - no day of registration will be available! Register at BikeReg today!
  • Speaking of Dark Horse and Stewart and crazy epic rides as we were, registration is also open for the Dark Horse 40, the classic 40 mile race also held at Stewart State Forest. This year, it will be held on July 31, and right now registration is only $55. It will go up to $75 on May 1, so don't delay!
Stay tuned for some announcements of more events coming up in the next few weeks - fun stuff!

After much teeth gnashing, the paperwork snafu at USA Cycling is now resolved. You can renew your licenses and have the ability to choose Team Town Cycle as both your mountain bike club/team, and your cyclocross club/team. If anyone renewed their licenses before and were unable to do that, please drop us a line with your USA Cycling license number - they have promised to fix any problems that were caused by this paperwork problem.

Thanks for your patience!!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! We at Team Town Cycle hope you all had a wonderful holiday season filled with family, friends and fun, and a little relaxation thrown in for good measure!

We're starting to think ahead already, to spring and beyond, so we have a few notes and reminders for everyone.

  1. It's renewal time - your membership renewal for Team Town Cycle for 2011 is now due! If you didn't get a chance to renew at our annual dinner in November, please grab the very short renewal form here. Print it and fill it out, and either mail it with your check to the P.O. Box address listed on the form, or drop it off to Mike at the shop.
  2. Anyone who has a USA Cycling license has, by now, received their renewal notice via email. Due to some snafu's at USA Cycling's end, Team Town Cycle is currently not shown as a valid club on their site. We know about it, we have a few people working on it, and we hope to have it all straightened out within the next few days. We'll let you know when everything is all set! As you do send in your renewals, it is important to make sure you select Team Town Cycle as your team/club - it lets USA Cycling know that we have an active membership, and gives you and us proper credit in your rankings and results!
  3. Speaking of USA Cycling, if you raced in 2010 with a one day license, think about getting an annual license for 2011! If you want to participate in any of the national events that take place throughout the year, you'll need a national ranking, and you can only get that with an annual license. It makes registering through BikeReg easier, it makes "day of" registration easier, and again, as a team/club - it gives us strength in numbers! Plus, when you are ready to move up from Cat. 2 to Cat. 1, you can only do that with an annual license - maybe this will be that year!
In the next week, we'll wrap up some business from 2010, and start working on some more fun for 2011, so stay tuned.

From everyone at Team Town Cycle, thank you for all of your support and help throughout 2010. We couldn't do it without you, and we look forward to new fun and adventures in 2011!
