Planning ahead for some epic road rides!

A little planning ahead for all you road bike enthusiasts out there -

  • March 28 - a message from TTC friend and sponsor Larry Towner!
Some of the ProPower Coaching group are planning a tentative trip up to Battenkill on Wed., March 28 for a pre-ride of the Battenkill race course. Planning on an early start. If you are racing Battenkill, or if you've heard about it and are interested in checking out the course for future reference, send me an email to: larry@propowercoaching.com . We won't be doing a hard pace but it is 60 plus hilly miles with a lot of dirt sections so be forewarned!  This should be considered an advanced level ride. As we get closer I'll firm things up and we can arrange carpooling.
  • TTC member Angela has registered for the 2012 NJ Gran Fondo, September 9, 2012, and Team Town Cycle now is an official "team" for the Fondo! Use this code for 20%  of your registration for the Fondo - TTCGFNJ2012  - and make sure you pick Team Town Cycle for your team! Yes, it's more than a few months off, but it's a great event - hopefully no hurricanes will cause any re-scheduling issues this year! Register today at www.active.com

As always - any questions - info@teamtowncycle.com.

February 24-27 plans

Here's what's coming up this weekend -

  • It's not too late to join us on our road trip to Ray's Indoor Mountain Bike Park in Cleveland, OH from February 24-26. They have a great deal for first timers, very reasonable hotel rates, and more fun than should be legal as you ride indoors on your mountain bike! Want to try to hook up with some other people who are going? Drop us a line, and we'll give you the 411 on it all.
  • Resident roadie BJ is leading a 2 hour road ride on Sunday, meeting at Silas Condict Park in Kinnelon at 12:45 p.m. He's planning on two hours of easy pedaling - no King of the Mountain sprints, etc, just a nice afternoon ride. Great way to get back on your road bike for a few hours!
  • Don't forget Monday night is climbing night at The Gravity Vault in Upper Saddle River. 6 p.m., and Mondays are Buy One, Get One Free admissions (for adults).
Looking forward to seeing you out there!

February Dates to Remember!

OK, it's the time of year we all need a little something to look forward to - so here's a couple of things to take you through the month of February!
  • February 10  - don't forget - it's our 2012 season kickoff! Join us at the High Crest Lodge in West Milford at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 10 for a casual catch-up! We'll have a few snacks, a couple of drinks, and info on everything from some rides and trips for 2012, the latest in cycling fashions from Bontrager, information on ordering our new kits from Verge, and news and notes from sponsors and friends of the club! You can use this chance to renew your membership, bring a friend to see what we are all about, and get psyched for a new season of cycling! We may even scare up a few door prizes!
  • February 12 - weather permitting, we're heading south for a road trip to Allaire State Park in Wall Township, NJ. We took a group down there last year, and the resounding response was "How come we've never come here before???" We'll meet at the Hospital Road parking lot at 9:30 (travel time to Allaire is approx. 90 minutes), and ride for a good three hours or so. Great chance to ride at a place completely different from our back yard!
  • February 24-26 - a big road trip - to Ray's Mountain Bike Park in Cleveland, Ohio! This is THE place for winter riding - there's nothing like it out there! Visit their site - they have a good deal with a local hotel, the prices for both the park and hotel are reasonable, you can bring your own food and drink into the place, and it's a ridiculous amount of fun for kids, adults, beginners, experts, and everyone in between! You can bring your own bike, or rent one there - you decide! Check out the fun we had there last year. We'll try to carpool as much as possible, so if you are interested in going, and need someone to fill a spot in your own car, or would like to combine with another group, let us know - we'll see if we can hook you up!
  • February 29 (Leap Day!) - The Banff Mountain Film Festival is once again going to be shown at the Lafayette Theatre in Suffern, NY at 7 p.m. Several TTC members went last year and said it was phenomenal! Treat yourself to a week night out and check out a great film
So there you go - a little something to keep us all moving forward toward spring! As always, please email us with any questions - info@teamtowncycle.com .
