Taking a last moment to say Thanks!

If you weren't able to attend the 2015 JORBA Jungle Jam - well, you missed out. No other way to put it. Picture perfect weather, fantastic riding, great music and food, an amazing group of vendors and sponsors, and out of this world comrades. All in all, just about a perfect day.

We'd be remiss if we didn't take a minute to thank everyone who made the day possible, and we hope you'll take the time to say thanks as well - JJJ 2015 doesn't happen without them.

  • All the vendors who very generously contributed swag and/or cash - Trek and Jon Sherwood, for donating the Farley frame, Giant, for going above and beyond to make it to our event, Shimano and John Florey for always supporting JORBA,  Niner,  Mavic, SRAM, Mountain Creek Bike Park, Ski Barn, Sentenced 2 Life, Santa Cruz, Morr Eyewear, DVO Suspension, Town Cycle, Sussex Bike, Tenafly Bicycle Workshop, The Bike Bondsman, Jeff Lenosky, SixSixOne, One Industries, SealSkinz, NICA, Ruby Rose - and someone who we've likely forgotten (our apologies!). Everyone added value to our day, and we are so grateful you were all there!
  • NJ State Park Supervisor Eric Pain and his staff - thank you for being our partner in this adventureland we call Jungle Habitat! Not every park can say that their supervisor is on their side - we consider ourselves lucky that we can!
  • Kathi Krause of Dirt Rock N Root Training for again leading 2 free clinics and a beginners ride - always there to support JORBA!
  • Pat "The Human Vise" Povilaitis and his strongman show - Pat is one of the nicest guys around, and always supportive of JORBA and their work - thanks for another awesome show, Pat - always a highlight to the day!
  • DJ Conrad for once again providing the most excellent soundtrack to our day - he's da bomb!
  • TTC's own BJ Kisch for being an awesome MC - thanks BJ!
  • Manny, from Video Trail Reviews - again, another long time supporter of JORBA. Make sure to check out his video recap!
  • Special shout to Excelsior Lumber for donating the lumber for the skinnies - that was the busiest place all day, with the possible exception of Ruby Rose!
  • JORBA executive committee, volunteers and members - thank you for your time and commitment!

That's a wrap for JORBA Jungle Jam, the 2015 edition. Thanks again for everyone who came out to ride with us and support JORBA - seeing everyone out there enjoying the day makes it all those trail work hours worth it, right?

JORBA Jungle Jam 2015 = Total Awesomeness!

JORBA Jungle Jam 2015, you were awesome! So many people to thank - and we'll get to them all - but today, we want to thank you. Yes, YOU. You know who you are - you came out early, and brought a friend, you rode with us while we honored our friend ‪#‎singlespeedforschilling‬, you tried your hand at the skinnies (and didn't embarrass yourself too badly!), and you helped that kid tighten his helmet. You demo'd a fat bike, bought a burrito, and talked suspensions, and helmets, drive trains and wheels. You renewed your JORBA membership, watched The Vise do amazingly things with metal and rocks and baseball bats. You even won a cool door prize! So thank you - yes, YOU. You spent a precious weekend day supporting JORBA and mountain biking in NJ, and we're so glad you did!

So long Winter! First Trail Maintenance for 2015 at JH on April 11!

Hello Spring! Time for some spring cleaning! Join us for our first trail maintenance of 2015 when we head out to do some work on Saturday, April 11.

For those new to trail maintenance at Jungle Habitat, join us at about 8:45 a.m. at the JH gate. Bring some gloves, appropriate footwear, water, and yes, maybe sunscreen (no leaves on the trees yet mean it's easy to burn on a sunny day!). We'll supply the tools and direction. We'll all roll into the park at 9, and work until noon.

These are Paydirt eligible hours, so H2H racers - don't get caught scrambling like last year - get those hours in now!!

As always, let us know if you have any questions - info@teamtowncycle.com .

Thank you's and some notes

  • We've been trying to remember to thank everyone who came out and joined us at JORBA Jungle Jam on 9/21- maybe you came and took out a demo bike, bought a raffle ticket, swept a ride, brought a friend. Thank you to all of you who helped us spread the JORBA love! A special thank you to Manny Lugo of VideoTrailReviews.com - always a champion of JORBA, not only did he donate a stack of videos to our door prize swag, he also made a great highlight video of the day. Manny is the man! http://vimeo.com/108092023

One last lap around the pump track for 2012!

Well, the sad time has come - time to close down the West Milford Family Pump Track for the season. If we continue to ride on it during the rain/freeze/thaw/snow cycles that mark our winters in northern NJ, we'll do lots of damage to the track - and too many people worked too hard to let that happen. So - Saturday, December 15 is the day. We'll have one last "hurrah" around the track, and will close it up for the season by 2:30 p.m. If you need one last day of riding to carry you through the winter - we'll see you Saturday!

And to everyone who helped us at all this year - volunteering, shoveling, planting, buying raffle tickets, t-shirts, stickers, etc. - thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for helping to bring this wonderful project to life. We're already making plans for next year, and we can't wait until spring to start working - and riding - our pump track again!

Catching up - Kids Ride, Jungle Habitat 10/13/12

It's been busy around here, so let's go back a week and catch up! On Saturday, October 13, we helped JORBA host a kids mountain bike ride at Jungle Habitat. We had age ranges from 2-16, training wheels to tubeless - all having a great time!

Much thanks to John Florey and the Highlands Sports Group for donating swag, as well as Jeff Lenosky for donating some great hats, Native and Teva stickers and Clif bars. Also a big thank you to Ski Ducks for helping to underwrite our day, and as always, Town Cycle!

Just a few more pictures available here . Thanks again to all the riders and the volunteers who came out in the cold - we had a chilly start, but a great ride! Can't wait to do it again!

Kids Mountain Bike Ride at Jungle Habitat Sat., October 13

Just a reminder that we will be helping out JORBA with the kids ride at Jungle Habitat tomorrow - 9:30-12 p.m. It'll be a bit chilly, but we'll have post ride drinks (hot chocolate!), snacks and swag for everyone! All levels and abilities welcome - moms and dads too!

Also, please remember - for those of you driving through town, the West Milford Autumn Lights Festival will be going on - please leave yourself extra travel time because of road closures and extra traffic. Thanks!

Any questions, drop us a line - info@teamtowncycle.com. Hope to see you out there!

Meet us at Jungle Habitat at 9:30 a.m., we'll break up into groups, practice on our "skinnies", and ride around Jungle! Snacks and water and maybe even some swag for our junior riders will be provided! We'll wrap up by noon. Mist or very light rain ok - steady rain will cancel. Any bike in good working order with knobby tires will work - and of course, helmets! Please bring a non-perishable food item for our local food banks - peanut butter, canned soup, pasta, beans, sauces, cereal, etc.  - they are in great need!
  • Sunday, October 21 - the official Grand Opening of the West Milford Family Pump Track! Join us for a day of celebrating and riding as we show off the new pump track to the world! Weekend mountain biking fun!

Lots of mountain biking fun for the weekend! Check us out!
  • Saturday, August 11 - JORBA ride at Jungle Habitat - part of the ever popular JORBA ride series! Two groups - one for those who would like the complete tour, one for those who want to go fast! Meet at the gate, wheels down at 10 a.m. Great chance to meet the good people who do the hard work at other parks in the state! More info here!
  • Also on Saturday, TTC's BJ will lead a ride at Mountain Creek. Meet at 9 a.m. at the biker parking lot across from the mountain, we'll be on the lift by 9:30 a.m. $7 buys you a one time ride up the mountain, where we'll hit the cross country trails. The XC trails are pretty tame, any level should be able to handle it! At the end, we'll sneak in a downhill run or two, or if you prefer, hitch a ride on the gondola.
  • Sunday, August 12 - TTC's James will lead a ride up at Stewart State Forest, meeting at 12 noon. It will be about a 20 mile loop in a beginner/intermediate level. Weather permitting. Stewart is a great place for riders of all levels, a good place to check out! Use the Weed Road Entrance just off Rt. 207.
Hopefully the weather will cooperate across the board! Have a great weekend, everyone!

Quick weekend updates!

Quick reminder of this weekends plans!
  1. If it's Friday, then it is time for Friday night road ride on Clinton Road. Meet at 5:30 p.m. at the old Village Square Inn on Rt. 23 in Newfoundland.
  2. Our 4th Annual Juniors in the Jungle K-12 Kids Mountain Bike race is Saturday, April 28! The weather looks great, we have great prizes lined up for our racers, and we're putting the finishing touches on the course this afternoon. Please spread the word, bring the kids, and come out and have a great time! And if you have a few hours free on Saturday, we can always use a hand!
  3. BMX racing starts on Saturday - good luck to our BMX contingent as they start the 2012 season!
  4. Sunday, April 29, there is a JORBA ride and trail work day at Jungle Habitat. Meet at the gate at 9 a.m. for a good social paced ride around JH, take a break for lunch, and then spend a few hours doing trail work from 12:30-3:00 p.m. Only free part of the day? No problem, join us for what you can!
  5. Good luck to our TTC members who are racing at Singlespeed-a-palooza at Stewart on Sunday - and it actually might not rain on them, for a change!
  6. Finally, don't forget Tuesday mountain bike rides hosted by TTC's James and Vicki - meeting at 22 Crag Place in Ringwood, 6 p.m. Social pace around some of Ringwood's easier trails. Rain cancels.
Enjoy the weather, and have a great weekend, everyone!

Picking up the pace!

Lots to talk about for this weekend - no time to lose!
  • You know it, you love it - the famous Friday night Clinton Road rides are back! For those of you who are not familiar with our much storied rides, we meet at the old Village Square Inn parking lot on Route 23 in Newfoundland. We break into groups, and do an out-and-back on Clinton Road, and a lap around Upper Greenwood Lake, for those who are so inclined. If you are not used to group road rides, this is a great ride to learn on! Pace line basics, group ride etiquette, etc. are all part of the fun. For this week, we will be wheels down at 5:30 p.m. sharp - any later and we will lose the light! So plan your arrival time accordingly. It's a great way to get used to riding in a group, so bring a friend and join us!
  • Saturday, March 31 - join us for our 2nd annual Clinton Road Clean-up. We spend a lot of time riding on this road, it's only seems fair that we help keep it clean. Meet us at the aforementioned Village Square Inn Parking lot at 9 a.m., and we'll make our plans from there. Please bring work gloves, water, a Team Town Cycle jersey or vest if you have one, and bug repellant or sunscreeen if desired.
  • Also Saturday, March 31 - a ladies only mountain bike ride at Lewis Morris Park in Morristown! Meet us down by the lake at 1 p.m. (or shortly thereafter!) - we'll gather and decide where we want to go from there! There's always the temptation of a late lunch at the local Mexican restaurant afterwards to get you through your ride! Lewis Morris is a very friendly beginner venue - if you are a bit rusty, or not up to rocky singletrack just yet, this is a great place for you! Rain will cancel!
  •  Sunday, April 1 - two events at Jungle Habitat - and no, that's not an April Fools joke!
    • The first JORBA trail work day of 2012 at Jungle Habitat is here! We're switching up the format a bit - first we will ride, then work. Meet us at 9 a.m. at the gates, and we'll ride (social pace) until about 11:45 a.m. Bring some lunch, we'll change, eat, and then head out at approximately 12:30 to work for about 3 hours. Bring your work gloves, water, etc. - we'll provide the tools. And yes, this is a Paydirt eligible event, so come on out, H2H racers!
    • UPDATE - we're going to put this ride on hold and help out at the trail work day - we'll reschedule for another day! Also, we'll have a second ride at JH - easy pace, possibly throwing in a lap around Warthog- 1-2 hours long, not a killer ride! We are wheels down at 1 p.m., so please plan ahead.
  • Also for Sunday, April 1st - our first Sugarloaf/Warwick Bicycles and Brunch road ride of 2012! This will be a moderately paced road ride (no drop), starting at Town Cycle at 9 a.m. We'll stop for breakfast burritos up in Sugarloaf, for those interested, and maybe an Italian cookie in Warwick, for anyone who is up for it. Bring some cash and plenty of water - it's a wonderful scenic ride!
So there you go - something for everyone! The weather looks great for this weekend, so no excuses - come on out and join us! As always, let us know if you have any questions - info@teamtowncycle.com.
