We've been lazy about updating our photo page, but we finally have some new pics! Click on the Flickr link on the left sidebar, and check out the photos from our Easter Bunny ride this past Sunday. There is also a set of photos from this week's Augusta Training Series race - a nice showing by Team Town Cycle!

If you are talented enough to take pictures and ride, send them to us - we're happy to include them in our photo pool! Extra points if it involves embarrassing wardrobe choices or non-injury related crashes!

NYNJ Trail Conference Trail Work, April 3

Please read the message below from Jeff Mergler, Executive Director of JORBA and all around nice guy. We'll try to keep you updated on future NYNJ Trail conference dates - as Jeff says, the better our relationships with groups like these become, the more likely they will be supportive of multi- use trails.

Hi folks, if you would like to help out one of the Trail Conference crews this Saturday, they are working in Norvin Green as described below.

Full disclosure: this is a hiking only trail. If you have a problem with that, don't take it out on Karen or her husband Frank who are leading the crews. Karen and Frank are great people, own bikes themselves and are very supportive of multi-use. They just happen to work in Norvin Green which has a hiking only designation. That is not their doing or fault.

In any case, if you do enjoy Norvin Green by foot I wanted to pass this along to you. I am also a Delegate at Large on the NYNJ Trail Conference and I want to stress that there are a good number of folks in that organization that are sympathetic to multi-use trails and our relationships are getting better every year. It is for this reason that I want to offer this opportunity to our volunteers in case they are so inclined to help. Please support Karen and Frank if you can.

We will be out THIS SATURDAY April 3rd to cut the remaining section of the Manaticut Point Connector trail located in upper Norvin Green State Park. Please feel free to join us.

We will meet at 9:30am at the upper end of Crescent Drive in Ringwood, NJ. From West Brook Road, turn onto Magee Road, Left up Burnt Meadow Road, and turn on the second left for Crescent Drive. This is a hiking only trail as Jeff pointed out and only a short segment is left to complete between the Lake Sonoma trail and the Hewitt-Butler trail. Only a little over 1/4 mile is left to complete and will complete the loop up to Maniticut Point. The work entails a little chainsaw work (I'll bring mine along), running a power pruner (to cut down the blueberry bushes), clipping, raking, and nailing blazes to the trees.

Please bring:
- work gloves
- lunch/drink
- energy and enthusiasm

We will be clipping, pruning, raking, blazing trees and establishing the trail. Please let me know if you'd like to come so we can have enough tools ready and notify you in the event of cancellation.

Junior Development Skills Clinic

Team Somerset will be hosting for the second straight year a Junior Development Skills Clinic. It will be Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater. This is a great event for those kids that are new to racing this season or did limited racing last season. While the clinic is oriented more towards the newcomer than the experienced racer, there will be something for everyone. There will be a demonstration on how to change a flat tire, giveways, lunch etc. This is a great refresher for kids who forgot what they learned last year. Or have your kids bring a friend who is interested in the sport! It's a fun event for all.

The cost will be $35 for non-licensed riders and $25 for licensed riders.

Easter Bunny rides!

If it's Easter, can real spring be far away? We hope not! The weather is supposed to be amazing this weekend, so we've got a few rides for those of you who want to work off some of the chocolate bunny and jelly beans ahead of time!

• Friday, April 2. This was already announced, but here's a quick recap for those who missed the first one. It's a Friday night road ride on our fave Friday night route - Clinton Road! We'll start our regular Friday night rides in a few weeks, but in the meantime, here's a preview. We know lots of people have a day off or a half day, so let's meet at the usual place, the Village Square Inn on Route 23 in Newfoundland, at 5 p.m. We'll have an "A" and "B" group, so all levels of riders are welcome!
• Saturday, April 3. Road ride, leaving Town Cycle at 9 a.m. We'll do a moderate paced ride around Greenwood Lake, and then we'll take a poll if you want to go farther!
• Saturday, April 3. Mountain Bike ride, Waywayanda. Our ride leader is recovering from a cold, so it will be a beginner paced ride, probably a lap around the Spring Cleaning race course. Meet us at the boat launch parking lot at 11:15 a.m. If we need to cancel, we'll do it here and on Twitter tomorrow.
• Sunday, April 4. Happy Easter! Before you sit down to your big Easter ham and mashed potatoes, come join us for an Easter Bunny hunting mountain bike ride at Waywayanda. We'll meet at the boat launch parking lot at 9 a.m. It'll be a moderately paced ride, about 2 hours long.

Lots of opportunities for rides for all levels, so come on out and join us!

Friday night ride!

Now don't get too excited, this isn't the beginning of our official weekly Friday night rides just yet. Give us a few more weeks to gain a bit of daylight, then we'll get serious!

In the meantime, we know many of you will have the day off or maybe just a half day of work on Friday, so we thought we'd put together a road ride on our favorite Friday night route - Clinton Road! For this Friday, April 2nd, meet us at the usual place - the Village Square Inn parking lot on Rt. 23 in Newfoundland - at 5 p.m. Don't worry if you're a bit rusty, or even if you've never done a big group road ride. We'll set up an "A" and a "B" group to take care of everyone's needs!

Last Minute Announcement for Mountain Bike Ride

For anyone who would rather ride in the woods than on the road on Sunday, we'll have a group meeting at Waywayanda on Sunday, March 28. We'll meet at the boat launch parking lot at 8:30 a.m. Dust off that mountain bike and come join us!

On the road again!

A ride for those of you looking to get re-acquainted with your road bike! Let's meet Sunday morning at Town Cycle, be ready to ride at 9 a.m. Remember to be considerate of those attending church next door! We'll do 25-35 miles, moderate pace. It'll be a chance to clear out the cobwebs and get moving again!

Good luck to our road racing contingent going to Branchbrook Saturday morning - and don't forget the Augusta training series continues on Tuesdays up at the Sussex County Fairgrounds! All details for both series are on our calendar.
