Catching up - Kids Ride, Jungle Habitat 10/13/12

It's been busy around here, so let's go back a week and catch up! On Saturday, October 13, we helped JORBA host a kids mountain bike ride at Jungle Habitat. We had age ranges from 2-16, training wheels to tubeless - all having a great time!

Much thanks to John Florey and the Highlands Sports Group for donating swag, as well as Jeff Lenosky for donating some great hats, Native and Teva stickers and Clif bars. Also a big thank you to Ski Ducks for helping to underwrite our day, and as always, Town Cycle!

Our favorite local bike shop owner, Mike Hoek, took a tough tumble off his bike, and learned that gravity is a harsh mistress! The bad news is that it took surgery to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. The good news is that the doctors say the surgery was a total success, and he should be home in a few days. Mike asked for no visitors until he is home, but we're sure he'd appreciate hearing from you -info@towncycle.com . We'll keep you updated - happy healing, Mike! 

West Milford Family Pump Track Grand Opening!!

Looking forward to the official grand opening of the West Milford Family Pump Track on Sunday, Oct. 21, from 12-4 p.m. Many of you helped us build - now come help us celebrate! Food, giveaways, and of course - lots of riding!

Kids Mountain Bike Ride at Jungle Habitat Sat., October 13

Just a reminder that we will be helping out JORBA with the kids ride at Jungle Habitat tomorrow - 9:30-12 p.m. It'll be a bit chilly, but we'll have post ride drinks (hot chocolate!), snacks and swag for everyone! All levels and abilities welcome - moms and dads too! 

Also, please remember - for those of you driving through town, the West Milford Autumn Lights Festival will be going on - please leave yourself extra travel time because of road closures and extra traffic. Thanks!

Great news - our 2012 Bubblecross CX race is in West Milford!

Great news! Team Town Cycle is excited to be holding our 2012 cyclocross race right here in West Milford - at Bubbling Springs Park on Macopin Road! The date is Nov. 4, 2012, and all the details can be found here . If you've always wanted to see what it is all about, this is a great chance to see it up close - and close to home!

A few dates to throw out there -

• Sat., October 13 - Kids Ride - Jungle Habitat! Join JORBA as we have a great ride out there for the kids! Meet us at Jungle Habitat at 9:30 a.m., we'll break up into groups, practice on our "skinnies", and ride around Jungle! Snacks and water and maybe even some swag for our junior riders will be provided! We'll wrap up by noon. Mist or very light rain ok - steady rain will cancel. Any bike in good working order with knobby tires will work - and of course, helmets! Please bring a non-perishable food item for our local food banks - peanut butter, canned soup, pasta, beans, sauces, cereal, etc.  - they are in great need!
• Sunday, October 21 - the official Grand Opening of the West Milford Family Pump Track! Join us for a day of celebrating and riding as we show off the new pump track to the world! We'll be there from 12-4 p.m., so please come out and help us thank those who made this all possible as well as celebrate the awesomeness that is the new track!
• Sunday, November 4 - cyclocross racing comes to West Milford! This year, our annual CX race will be held right at Bubbling Springs, and we couldn't be more excited. More details to come!

So mark those dates on your calendar, and keep that pencil handy - more excitement is to come!
