Taking a last moment to say Thanks!
If you weren't able to attend the 2015 JORBA Jungle Jam - well, you missed out. No other way to put it. Picture perfect weather, fantastic riding, great music and food, an amazing group of vendors and sponsors, and out of this world comrades. All in all, just about a perfect day.
That's a wrap for JORBA Jungle Jam, the 2015 edition. Thanks again for everyone who came out to ride with us and support JORBA - seeing everyone out there enjoying the day makes it all those trail work hours worth it, right?
We'd be remiss if we didn't take a minute to thank everyone who made the day possible, and we hope you'll take the time to say thanks as well - JJJ 2015 doesn't happen without them.
- All the vendors who very generously contributed swag and/or cash - Trek and Jon Sherwood, for donating the Farley frame, Giant, for going above and beyond to make it to our event, Shimano and John Florey for always supporting JORBA, Niner, Mavic, SRAM, Mountain Creek Bike Park, Ski Barn, Sentenced 2 Life, Santa Cruz, Morr Eyewear, DVO Suspension, Town Cycle, Sussex Bike, Tenafly Bicycle Workshop, The Bike Bondsman, Jeff Lenosky, SixSixOne, One Industries, SealSkinz, NICA, Ruby Rose - and someone who we've likely forgotten (our apologies!). Everyone added value to our day, and we are so grateful you were all there!
- NJ State Park Supervisor Eric Pain and his staff - thank you for being our partner in this adventureland we call Jungle Habitat! Not every park can say that their supervisor is on their side - we consider ourselves lucky that we can!
- Kathi Krause of Dirt Rock N Root Training for again leading 2 free clinics and a beginners ride - always there to support JORBA!
- Pat "The Human Vise" Povilaitis and his strongman show - Pat is one of the nicest guys around, and always supportive of JORBA and their work - thanks for another awesome show, Pat - always a highlight to the day!
- DJ Conrad for once again providing the most excellent soundtrack to our day - he's da bomb!
- TTC's own BJ Kisch for being an awesome MC - thanks BJ!
- Manny, from Video Trail Reviews - again, another long time supporter of JORBA. Make sure to check out his video recap!
- Special shout to Excelsior Lumber for donating the lumber for the skinnies - that was the busiest place all day, with the possible exception of Ruby Rose!
- JORBA executive committee, volunteers and members - thank you for your time and commitment!
JORBA Jungle Jam 2015 = Total Awesomeness!
JORBA Jungle Jam 2015, you were awesome! So many people to thank - and we'll get to them all - but today, we want to thank you. Yes, YOU. You know who you are - you came out early, and brought a friend, you rode with us while we honored our friend #singlespeedforschilling, you tried your hand at the skinnies (and didn't embarrass yourself too badly!), and you helped that kid tighten his helmet. You demo'd a fat bike, bought a burrito, and talked suspensions, and helmets, drive trains and wheels. You renewed your JORBA membership, watched The Vise do amazingly things with metal and rocks and baseball bats. You even won a cool door prize! So thank you - yes, YOU. You spent a precious weekend day supporting JORBA and mountain biking in NJ, and we're so glad you did!

Rumble in the Jungle 2015 - done and done well!
Wow,
what a day! So many people who helped make the 2015 Rumble in the
Jungle a success, we don't know even where to start. First, the
fantastic racers and their families - we know we have the best community
out there, and today was one of those days that proved it! West Milford First Aid Squad - thanks for patching us back up today! Eastern sports promotions for once again doing a great job with the scoring - thanks Tim and Jim! Alan and Ruby Rose for the great Mexican food. Echo Lake Baptist Church provided neutral water support on a hot and sticky day - thank you so much Viola and her merry band! Mountain Creek Bike Park for donating water park passes to some of our junior races. Shimano Cycling
and John Florey of Highland Sports Group for donating a pair of Shimano
shoes to the winners of the Cat. 1 Women's classes - thanks for
supporting our ladies! And A.C. Daughtry Inc. for providing us with series numbers for 2015 - thanks Dave and Heather!

great race put on by the Eastern Sports Promotions folks - check out all
the details at BikeReg.com!

Rumble in the Jungle - the 2015 edition!
It's that time of year - everyone wants to know - what's the course, how long is a lap, is XYZ trail in it, is there a beer stop, when will you pre-ride, what gearing are you using, where are the monkeys, can you put my favorite trail in it, what tires are you using - you know, the usual! We can't help you with with all of those questions (although we are in favor of a beer stop - illegal at NJSP's, unfortunately!) but here's what we have.
- Course marking will start on Friday, May 15, and be finished on May 16. We'll try to have arrows up at critical intersections early on. It's a public park, so we can only tape the day or so beforehand. We appreciate your understanding!
- We will have a course pre-ride on Wednesday, May 13, wheels down at 6 p.m. We will do both the Cat. 1/2 lap, as well as the Cat. 3 lap. Due to the popularity of last year's format, we will again being doing 2 shorter Cat. 3 laps.
- The course is about 90% the same as last years course, so if you are familiar with that course, you'll do fine with this one. Here is the Strava file for the Cat. 1/2 laps, and for the Cat. 3 lap. As most of you know, GPS is hard at Jungle - between several of the trails being so close to each other, and the weird GPS juju that often haunts Jungle, it's hard to get a super accurate lap. There is already some surveyors tape up to help you out in a few spots.
As you pre-ride, please be considerate of the other park users - just because they might not be on bikes doesn't mean they aren't good people! Right?
As always, info@teamtowncycle.com with any questions. Don't forget - this is the NJ State Championship race for this year - just another reason to sign up today!
Late notice - Ride, Sat. May 9!
A late notice for a road ride - tomorrow, Sat. May 9, 8 a.m. in Harriman. Meet at the Long Meadow visitor center, we'll go for a 3 hour cruise. Perfect weather - come join us!

The week ahead - and a great big "Junior" thank you!
- A huge, gigantic, ginormous, big, squishy THANK YOU to everyone who came out to race or help out for Juniors in the Jungle this past Saturday!!! You guys are the best! From BJ with his always excellent MC skills, to Angela for taking such great photos, to Heather for the most welcome egg sandwiches and kielbasa (it was worth the trip right there!), to all 3 Toms, the Dave's, Steve, Vicki, Sherri, Norm, Chris, Dave, Ted, Kevin, Mike, Nick, Ethan, Rick, James, and all the other people we are forgetting. Most importantly, thanks to all the racers and their parents who came out and took a lap or more! No one got hurt, we cleaned up and were out of there in record time, and most important - we got some more kids psyched about cycling! So thank you again to everyone who came out, and to everyone who helped spread the word!
- TTC's BJ will be leading a night ride on Thursday, April 30. Wheels down at 8 p.m. at Jungle Habitat. Plug in your lights - we're looking for Bigfoot! Nothing racy about this ride - just a nice moonlit roll through JH.
- Don't forget - this Friday, May 1 - the debut of the 2015 Friday Night Clinton Road rides! It's been a long winter - we are beyond glad to get this particular party started! Meet us at the United Methodist Church at 65 LaRue Road, Newfoundland. Please remember - we are guests of the church. Let's be considerate and park near the road, not by the church buildings. Wheels down at 6 p.m. Ladies rides start on Wednesday, May 6.
- Local MTB racing this weekend - the 2nd H2H race of the season is at Wawayanda! All info on www.bikereg.com.
Have a great week everyone!

Kids MTB Skills ride, and Clinton Road rides are back!
- Next Saturday, April 25, Kathi Krause of Dirt, Rock and Root Training will be holding a free middle school/high school kids fundamentals ride after the Juniors in the Jungle MS/HS race at Jungle Habitat. Your child does NOT have to have raced to join in! Meet at the race registration area at 11:30 a.m., and Kathi, who is committed to helping MTB'ers of all ages and ability levels gain confidence and skills, will lead them on an approximately 1 hour ride through Jungle Habitat. A great chance for kids to ride with other kids!
- You've been asking - no, begging for them - and they're back! The first Friday Night Clinton Road ride for 2015 will be on Friday, May 1. We are once again so fortunate to be able to park at the United Methodist Church, 65 LaRue Road, Newfoundland, NJ. Please be considerate of our hosts and park closest to the road, and away from the buildings! We'll be wheels down at 6 p.m. This ride is a great way to learn about road riding in a group, pace line basics, and just unwind from a long week! Ladies Wednesday night Clinton Road rides will start on May 6.
So excited that the weather has finally come to its' senses - let's get out and ride!
Any questions? info@teamtowncycle.com, of course!

We're counting the days until the best race of the year! , and it's less than 2 weeks away - the always most excellent Juniors in the Jungle K-12 MTB race! And we'll be marking and taping the course on Friday afternoon, April 24 - we'll narrow down the time a little more next week.
Meet us at the gate, bring your gloves, and we'll bring the tools - and probably snacks too!

2 MTB rides in the queue!
Yes, we think it might finally be true!!! Spring is finally here - or at least it's finally trying to be spring! Whatever it is, it's not snowing, so we'll take it. Got a few mountain bike rides for those who are interested.
1). TTC member Tom Bowmaster is offering up a MTB ride at Lewis Morris on Sunday, April 12 - with homemade pizza afterwards. How do you pass that up? Meet at Tom's house - 55 Fairmount Ave., Morristown, at 2:30, and he'll take you on a nice tour of Lewis Morris, and then back to his place for homemade pizza. Please RSVP to Tom directly , or you can call him at 973-539-0420, to let him know that you are coming, so he can make enough pizza dough for everyone!
2). Looking for somewhere new to ride? Join us for an after work MTB ride at Mahlon on Wednesday, April 15. Park at the Saffon's Pond lot, and we'll get you acquainted with this North Jersey park. Wheels down at 6 p.m. SHARP - we'll ride for 1.5 hours, (or a few minutes more, if the sun permits) - moderate pace, no drop.
More rides to come - stay tuned!

For those new to trail maintenance at Jungle Habitat, join us at about 8:45 a.m. at the JH gate. We'll all roll into the park at 9, and work until noon.
These are Paydirt eligible hours, so H2H racers - don't get caught scrambling like last year - get those hours in now!!

Early Bird Registration ends March 31 for Pedal for Preservation
We have previously told you about The Land Conservancy of NJ's Pedal for Preservation event on June 6, 2015. It takes place on the Columbia Trail, starting in Chester, NJ, and travels through Morris and Hunterdon counties. It's a great family event - little kids, big kids, etc. It is not a race, the trails are flat, and there are various distances available for all ability levels - 7, 20 and 30 miles. Early registration ends on March 31, so take advantage of the discount, and sign up today! There is also a non-cycling hiking option available this year as well.
We've created a team for this event, so use "Team Town Cycle" as your team name when you register!
It should be a great day - and the snow should be melted by then, right?
Have a great weekend, everyone!!
