10th Rumble in the Jungle May 22 - and we're giving away stuff!
Yes, it's hard to believe on May 22, the AC Daughtry Security H2H Race #4 will be the 10th Rumble in the Jungle!
Everyone thought we were crazy when we said "Hey, let's race at Jungle
Habitat" - but here we are, 10 years in, and still going strong.
We know how it goes - you say you are going to pre-reg, you really mean to pre-reg, and then you get distracted by something shiny (SQUIRREL!!) ... and then, it's 9:10 p.m. on Friday night, and you missed it. But this time, we've got a big juicy incentive for you ...
To celebrate our 10th Rumble, we are having a few giveaways for all you faithful MTB'ers who pre-reg. We will have one $500 gift card to Town Cycle, as well as 2 pairs of Shimano shoes (any shoe you want!) courtesy of Shimano and Highland Sports Group. That's 3 great prizes! And they are available to anyone who pre-registers - for any class. We'll use the magical random generator after registration closes on Friday night at 9 p.m to pick our lucky winners, so this time - don't wait!
We're putting the finishing touches on the course, and as usual we will have Alan from Ruby Rose serving up some of his awesome post race food. And new for 2016 - a first timers class! So don't forget to pre-reg, come on out, bring your party hats, and celebrate 10 years of Rumble with us!

Rumble in the Jungle 2015 - done and done well!
Wow,
what a day! So many people who helped make the 2015 Rumble in the
Jungle a success, we don't know even where to start. First, the
fantastic racers and their families - we know we have the best community
out there, and today was one of those days that proved it! West Milford First Aid Squad - thanks for patching us back up today! Eastern sports promotions for once again doing a great job with the scoring - thanks Tim and Jim! Alan and Ruby Rose for the great Mexican food. Echo Lake Baptist Church provided neutral water support on a hot and sticky day - thank you so much Viola and her merry band! Mountain Creek Bike Park for donating water park passes to some of our junior races. Shimano Cycling
and John Florey of Highland Sports Group for donating a pair of Shimano
shoes to the winners of the Cat. 1 Women's classes - thanks for
supporting our ladies! And A.C. Daughtry Inc. for providing us with series numbers for 2015 - thanks Dave and Heather!
Next up on the H2H docket - Tymor Park Challenge on May 31 - always a
great race put on by the Eastern Sports Promotions folks - check out all
the details at BikeReg.com!
And results are here - http://goo.gl/ppLLEN . Yep, we know there are a few final spelling mistakes to fix - we promise we will, just didn't want to make anyone wait any longer!
Also - we do have a few lost and found items - let us know if you left anything behind!

Rumble in the Jungle - the 2015 edition!
It's that time of year - everyone wants to know - what's the course, how long is a lap, is XYZ trail in it, is there a beer stop, when will you pre-ride, what gearing are you using, where are the monkeys, can you put my favorite trail in it, what tires are you using - you know, the usual! We can't help you with with all of those questions (although we are in favor of a beer stop - illegal at NJSP's, unfortunately!) but here's what we have.
- Course marking will start on Friday, May 15, and be finished on May 16. We'll try to have arrows up at critical intersections early on. It's a public park, so we can only tape the day or so beforehand. We appreciate your understanding!
- We will have a course pre-ride on Wednesday, May 13, wheels down at 6 p.m. We will do both the Cat. 1/2 lap, as well as the Cat. 3 lap. Due to the popularity of last year's format, we will again being doing 2 shorter Cat. 3 laps.
- The course is about 90% the same as last years course, so if you are familiar with that course, you'll do fine with this one. Here is the Strava file for the Cat. 1/2 laps, and for the Cat. 3 lap. As most of you know, GPS is hard at Jungle - between several of the trails being so close to each other, and the weird GPS juju that often haunts Jungle, it's hard to get a super accurate lap. There is already some surveyors tape up to help you out in a few spots.
As you pre-ride, please be considerate of the other park users - just because they might not be on bikes doesn't mean they aren't good people! Right?
As always, info@teamtowncycle.com with any questions. Don't forget - this is the NJ State Championship race for this year - just another reason to sign up today!

Rumble in the Jungle 2015 - the NJ State MTB Championship Version!
Another
spring favorite - this time with added excitement! May 17, 2015 - it's
back, and better than ever! It's H2H Race #3 - Rumble in the Jungle! And
just to kick it up a notch - it is also the 2015 NJ MTB State
Championship race for 2015! Mark it on your calendars, and get ready to
throw down - it's going to be filled with Jungle awesome!
Just as a reminder - to be eligible for a NJ state championship, you must have an annual USA Cycling license, and be a resident of NJ. We're psyched to see what the best MTB racers in NJ have for us when they are competing at the Jungle! For more info - http://goo.gl/1sUS7x.
Be there!!!!!!

One last Rumble thank you ....
One
last Rumble related note - a big thank you to all of the racers and
spectators for leaving JH, both trails and parking lot, EXTREMELY clean
this year! Without a doubt, this was the cleanest the park has ever been
post-race! Thank you for respecting the park, our relationship with the
NJ State Park system, and the time of our volunteers - we say it all
the time, but the H2H family is the best!

Rumble in the Jungle 2014 edition - course maps, pre-rides, etc.!
So here we go! We've changed things up a bit for 2014. To start, we're moving the whole show - registration, start area, and finish line - into the upper parking lot. You'll be able to park up there as well - certainly plenty of room to spread out!
Now, to our stellar crayon maps. The course will run clockwise, and the approximate start/finish lines are indicated on the map. A note about the course - the weather is predicted to dump rain on us Friday. Please note that yes, this is the intended route, but conditions may dictate some slight deviations from this map come race day, and we hope you'll understand if we need to make some changes. We're working on a GPS file - maybe tomorrow?
Cat. 1 will run 3 laps. Cat. 2 will run 2 laps. Cat. 2 riders - please note the orange "Cat. 2" bypass note on the map - you will not ride that last bottom section known as Babs. It will be taped off for your race only. Cat. 3, you will race 2 laps of a shorter course - please see the separate map for Cat. 3.
Looking for a tour? We'll lead a ride of the Cat. 1/2 lap.on Thursday, May 15. We'll meet at the gate at 5:30 p.m., and do at least one, possibly 2 laps of the Cat. 1/2 course at a moderate pace. We'll ride in light rain, but heavy rain or thunder will cancel.
Cat. 3 lap pre-ride will be on Saturday morning, May 17 at 10:30 a.m. Again, we'll meet at the gate. We'll do 2 laps at a casual pace for all those beginners who want a chance to get familiar with the course!
There are some arrows already up at critical intersections. More will be going up as the week goes by. Weather depending, course should be marked up by Friday night - early Sat. a.m. at the latest. Course designer Dave VW will be out there every evening after work this week - feel free to hunt him down and ask him any course questions you have.
Get your Cat. 1/2 course map here. Cat. 3 course map is available here. See everyone out there on Sunday!

Happy Mothers Day weekend!
Before we post a single thing, let's remember the most important event happening this weekend is Mother's Day! Don't forget to thank the moms in your life for all they do for you!
- Friday Night Ride will go on for any hardy souls willing to brave the mist and the fog - although any thunderstorms will cancel. Start time is now officially 6 p.m.
- Saturday, May 10 - want a sneak peek at the Rumble in the Jungle race course? Come on out and help us rake and cut back any face-slappers and you'll get a close up first hand look! Meet us at the gate at 12 p.m., and we'll work for about 2 hours or so. We'll work in light rain, but heavy rain will cancel. This is not a Paydirt event, just a chance to get an early look at the race course.
- Weather permitting, Saturday will also be the grand opening of the West Milford Family Pumptrack for 2014! Some changes from 2013 await all you dirt riders. Any rain will cancel - rain date will be Sunday, May 11.
- Sunday, May 11, TTC members Cliff and Diana will be headed to NYS for a long scenic road ride (though you may want your cross tires for some of those gravely roads!) They will leave from Margretville, NY at 10 a.m (about 2 hours away by car). They will be doing a shortened version of this route - planning on about 65 miles. Some good climbing, gravely roads, and great scenery! Contact Cliff directly for more info.
Have a great weekend everyone - especially all our favorite moms!

Rumble in the Jungle - the Soggy Version!
Well, the weather man said it wasn't going to rain until the afternoon - unfortunately, he lied! Of course, extraordinarily-heavy-mist-that-we-refused-to-call-rain wouldn't stop hearty mountain bikers from mixing it up at Jungle Habitat. Thanks to everyone who braved the soggy conditions to take a lap or 3 around - we think you guys were the true heroes of the day! Thanks all the families who came out and supported our racers, and of course our volunteers - we couldn't do it without you.
We'll start posting results as we finalize them. We know there are a few names misspelled, times missing, etc. - we'll start to fill them in after we get these slightly rough and soggy versions up.

Again, thanks so much to all the hardy racers that came out - you all are a cut above! Don't forget the next race in the Campmor H2H series is on June 23 at Lewis Morris Park in Morristown - a great way to kick off the summer!

Rumble in the Jungle 2013 maps
Just in time for the weekend - course maps for the 2013 edition of the Rumble in the Jungle! A few notes -
- Course changes may be made up until race day depending on trail conditions, weather, and the mood of the course designer - so be nice to him!
- There are still a few blowdowns, branches hanging, etc. left over from Hurricane Sandy, winter snows, etc. We will be working over the next 2 days to clean up them up and clear any leaf covered connectors, etc., but please exercise caution as you ride the lap for the first time!
- Course is basically the same as last years, with a few very small, minor changes. It will run the same direction as the last few years - counterclockwise, starting at the top of parking lot. Finish will be coming into parking lot out of tunnels.
- By this Friday night (May 10), we will try to have a few arrows up around to point out connectors that you may not be familiar with, etc. Course will be marked before sundown on Friday, May 17 - feel free to come by Friday afternoon to help out!
- Cat 1 - will be doing 3 laps. Cat. 2 will do 2 laps (except Cat. 2 Juniors 10-14), Cat. 3 rides 1 lap. The course is very slightly different for Cat 2 & 3 - make sure you pick the correct map/GPS file for your class.
- If it is wet this weekend/week, please be considerate of the trails and try not to tear them up too much.
Go forth and conquer!

The end - for now!
Well, folks, it's time to draw down the curtain of another season of Wednesday and Friday night road rides on Clinton Road. Between the condition of the road, and the rapidly waning daylight, we're going to put this tradition in the books for 2011. Much thanks to everyone who has come out this year and joined us - it was great while it lasted, right?
Of course, this doesn't mean we won't be riding - no way! Stay tuned - we've got a bunch of big fall rides we'll announce next week.
In the meantime, please keep all of your collective fingers crossed that Mother Nature smiles upon us on Sunday at Jungle Habitat for the 2011 Campmor H2H series Rumble in the Jungle race - we want everyone - our racers and our volunteers - to have a great day on Sunday, and a lack of rain would be helpful for that!

The 2010 Rumble in the Jungle is in the books!
What can we say but WOW! Mother Nature gave us a perfect day for the 4th Annual Rumble in the Jungle, and all of our racers gave us a great show - there were some awesome battles going on out there! Thanks to all of you who showed up and gave our course your best - we hope you enjoyed our unique Jungle Habitat experience!
We'll be updating this post with all the results as the day goes on, but for now, here are Cat. 3 and Cat. 2 results... All categories now posted!!!
- Cat. 3 Results, 2010 Rumble in the Jungle
- Cat. 2 Results, 2010 Rumble in the Jungle
- Cat. 1 Results, 2010 Rumble in the Jungle
- Thanks to our friend James Van Zetta, some pictures of the day are posted here .
Thanks to all of you who brought items for our food drive - we'll be dropping off 4 very, very large boxes of food at the Center for Food Action in Ringwood tomorrow, and I know they appreciate your generosity tremendously!
Finally, we can't let one very important group go unacknowledged - our volunteers! As usual, we had a great group of people who helped out not only on race day but in the days before (and after!) the race - working on trails, marking the course, being course marshals, running registration and scoring, volunteering their time (and tables and EZ-Ups!), and doing many other thankless jobs - all to make this event a great success. We know we couldn't do it without you - THANK YOU!
