Rumble in the Jungle Race Course Updates

PLEASE REMEMBER: For those who are racing on Sunday, please don't forget we're asking everyone to bring a canned good or other non-perishable food item for donation to our local food pantry!

Many of you have asked for a course update for next weekend's Campmor H2H race, our very own Rumble in the Jungle. Because this is still a newer park, and we are constantly building new trails, we don't have everything GPS'd yet. (It's our big winter season goal!)

For those of you who raced here previously, there will be a good portion of the course that, while not exactly the same, will be similar to last years. One large difference is that the big hill climb has been eliminated, and we will be substituting a different section in for that. For all others, the course will be fully marked by Friday, Sept. 25, so you will be able to pre-ride Friday and Saturday.

NOTE TO ALL WHO PLAN TO PRE-RIDE SATURDAY - There is an airshow taking place next door at Greenwood Lake Airport on Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday, the parking lot will be all ours, but on Saturday, the lot will be used by air show spectators. We will still have full access to the park and all the trails. You will have lots of extra people to contend with, so expect to spend extra time getting in and out of the park!

As always, let us know if you have questions. It's almost race day - get out and ride!

will the course go up "otter" slide instead of the paved climb and descend back down the doubltrack (old top of the climb by the water tank) and connect with the new tight singltrack ridge/descent cut over the winter?

It does not go up Otter Slide, it does not go up to the water tanks. Make left hand turn at top of the pavement climb onto Fish, then next intersection make a left hand turn onto Goat, then follow along as last years course.

This will be our first time at the race. What are the directions to the start of the race, so that we can pre-ride the course on Saturday. I tried to find on the website, but could not...likely my oversight. Thanks...Rory

Hi. Do you think that the course will be marked by noon on Friday? Thanks!

Hey what's up Guy's? Looking forward to the race. Love JH. Just a couple of questions. Besides the changes mentioned before is the rest of the course the same as last year? Start/Finish, direction etc.
For the start do we still go up the paved road climb then make our way through gate/fence to Warthog?
And as we enter tunnels from parking lot do we still go up to Ampatheater and go down through rock garden onto paved road then up climb? Thanks again see you sunday.

Best bet is to use Google Maps, look for Airport Road in West Milford. This way you can get the best directions from wherever you are coming from.

The race course will be ready to ride by sunrise Friday morning, barring natural disaster. We're on schedule to finish Thursday night - albeit late!

Steve -

Same direction as last year, same start and finish line. you dont go on Warthog right at the start - there's a prologue section that bypasses for the start, but it will be on the rest of the laps.

You don't go directly to the ampetheater after the tunnels - there are some new sections of trails that are part of that now. That section of the course is actually what we marked today, so it will be obvious as you ride. The course marking fairies will be out there Thursday to finish up marking.

Does the race go on rain or shine?

We race rain or shine! The weather at this point looks like a light rain overnight Sat. night, with a possible leftover sprinkle Sunday morning.

Some of the best races in this series have been run in the rain - a little dirt never hurt!
