Got rides?

  • No ladies road ride this week (8/13) - yoga on the dock at Heather's instead. For more info - info@teamtowncycle.com.
  • Thursday - pre-ride the XC course at Mountain Creek. Meet at the base of the lift at 5:30 - get your ticket at the bike shop before you meet us.
  • Friday - Friday night road ride - 'nuf said.
  • Hilltop Grasshopper Kids Race - North Caldwell, NJ - grades K-8 - always a great event! More info available here.
  • Sunday - Jamis Bikes H2H Race #7 - Mountain Creek Summer Scramble - be there! More info can be found here
  • Sunday, August 17 - for all you KOM chasers out there, TTC's BJ is putting together one of his famous KOM road rides! Wheels down from Town Cycle at 12:45 p.m. The route - many various up hill roads in the West Milford / Orange County area, covering such things as lakes, ski areas, fresh made ice cream, people dressed in sillier costumes than us, a manor in Ringwod, Dr. King's wife's road, Dairy Queen, and back to the shop. Ride should be about 3 hours and will regroup at the top of the climbs. Bring your climbing legs and aero helmet and throw down with the group!
  • Also, please don't forget - the Greenwood Lake Air Show is this weekend (Aug. 15-17) - super fun show, so many cool planes, cars, etc. - great family event! However, if you were looking for a nice quiet ride at Jungle Habitat this weekend - this may not be your weekend. The air show will be using the lot for parking (and charging for it!), so plan accordingly.
  • Also, the West Milford Family Pump Track will be closed August 15-17 because of the air show - so take the kids to the air show instead, and use one of our other local parks for your rides this weekend!

Pump Track News and Weekend Events!

FYI for anyone who was thinking of going to the West Milford Family Pump Track this weekend - because of the Greenwood Lake Air Show, the track must be closed starting today through Sunday, as Farrell Fields are part of the safety zone for the air show.

So - take in the air show (it's great for all ages!), or if your kids want to work on their mountain biking skills, take them down to the Hilltop Grasshopper Race in North Caldwell on Saturday. Geordie and his family put on a super event - your kids will love it! More info - http://tinyurl.com/mg4l8bm

Also, don't forget to check out the newest race in the H2H series on Sunday, August 18 - the Mountain Creek Summer Scramble. Spectators ride the lift for free, and the weather is going to be perfect so come on out and cheer (or heckle!) the racers, and then enjoy the post race awards and the biergarten! More info - http://www.mountaincreekbikepark.com/ .

Have a great weekend everyone!

Rides for the weekend!

OK, we've gotten that big block of heat behind us, now let's dodge a few rain showers and keep rolling down the road!

  • Friday, August 19 - you know it, you love it - our Friday night Clinton Road ride! Meet us at 6 p.m. (don't dawdle - we're starting to lose light already!) and join us for the the best way to start your weekend - rolling down Clinton Road. All paces are acceptable - we're happy to accommodate everyone!
  • Saturday, August 20 - the 2nd Annual Hilltop Grasshopper Kids Race! Geordie Smith and company put on a great race for kids K-8 last year, and this year promises to be just as fantastic. Check out the link for more info. It's only about a 30 minute ride from West Milford, and a lovely park to explore!
  • Sunday - it's King of the Mountain time! For those of you who are intimidated by the title "King of the Mountain" - don't be! This Sunday's version is a kinder, gentler version, designed to get everyone out there and try their hand at this event. The route will be the same as last month's  - up Warwick (climb #1). Around UGL. Down Clinton road SPRINT POINT at Van Orden. Down Van Orden to Union Valley. Right to Gould. Magee is KOM Peak 2. Stay on Gould. Macopin is KOM Peak 3. KOM leader BJ will go over route again at roll-off.  Meet at Town Cycle and be ready to roll by 9 a.m. - we won't wait for you if you are late!
Let us know if you have any special rides for this weekend - we'll post them up for you! Have a great weekend everyone!

Austin - this one is for you!

Last Saturday, on August 21, the Hilltop Conservancy, in association with JORBA, held their first annual Hilltop Grasshopper Kids Race in North Caldwell. The weather was perfect, and the Hilltop Team put together a great course and event!

Team Town Cycle was well represented, as you would expect! Taking second place in the Boys 2nd-3rd grade class was our own Austinator - Austin Moskowitz! He really put down a great lap and showed everyone how it was done! Way to go Austin!!!

In the very large and competitive Boys 6-8th grade class, our own Pieter Hoek survived a starting line pile-up and battled back through four long laps to come in seventh! Great job Pieter!!

And finally, in the 4th-5th grade Girls race, the lovely Delia Van Wart gave some of the boys a run for their money, and laid down 3 great laps to win her race!

Great job by everyone, and thanks again to Geordie and his team of volunteers at the Hilltop Conservancy, and Jeff Mergler at JORBA for organizing the day. And Austin - see? You're on the blog, buddy!!
