Campmor H2H series - schedule changes and successes!

Due to some scheduling snafu's, the Campmor H2H race at Blue Mountain that was supposed to be on the September 25th will now be on September 18. This is something that just came up, so please check your calendars and adjust accordingly!

Although most of the H2H regulars will have heard through the grapevine, for those who haven't, the 8th and final race in the H2H series which has been traditionally been held at Ringwood will instead be held at Waywayanda. This race will also be the NJ State Championship this year as well, so big news all around! So Sunday, October 2 - Waywayanda - NJ State Championship - be there!

Speaking of the Campmor H2H series, Team Town Cycle is seriously kicking butt out there this year! Last month, at the Bulldog Rump in Andover, our own Jess Reed came in third and Karen Bouloucon came in sixth in the Cat. 2 Women 19-39 class - way to go ladies! In the Cat. 1 Men 40-49, our own David Kahl came in first, with current overall class leader Jason Grossi coming in third - awesome!

TTC's own David Van Wart got his first win of the season in the Cat. 1 Singlespeed class -

and Cat. 1 Men 15-18's Adam Vandenbos continued his domination of that category, taking 1st place, with Dillon Van Wart taking second - our junior racing dynamic duo strikes again!

Congratulations to all involved, podium finishes or not - it's awesome to see all of those Team Town Cycle plaid jersey's out there tearing it up on the race course.

Speaking of racing, our local BMX racers Jay and Ethan Huggins have been representing Team Town Cycle quite well this season up in New Paltz. Last month Ethan placed second and Jay took first in their respective classes - super job, buys! If you get a chance - go check the action out

More for the ladies!

OK girls, we've got a few more events for you. On Wednesday, August 24, we will replace our regular ladies road ride with a bike maintenance clinic and potluck dinner. Learn about basic bike repairs (changing a flat on the road, tire pressure, fixing a brake rub, etc.), and tips and tricks to make your rides easier and better! We'll meet at the Kahl's at 6 p.m. - please RSVP to Heather and let her know what you can bring!

Also, on Sunday, September 25, we will have a Ladies Only road ride to New Paltz - a one way ride, approximately 50 miles. It's a great route, with the promise of lunch at the other end! We will leave Town Cycle at 9 a.m. - rain will cancel. We could use a supportive husband/spouse/friend/other to help transport riders home for the return trip - let us know if you have one of those! We'll need a head count for this ride, so please RSVP to us and let us know that you are interested!

Now guys, don't get jealous - we've got a few announcements coming down the pike that are for everyone! Stay tuned for more cool rides and events coming soon!

Wednesday, August 3rd Ladies Ride CANCELED!!

Looks like the rain is going to be with us for a few hours, so we are canceling tonight's ladies road ride on Clinton Road. We'll try again next week!

Women and children first!

OK, maybe not always first - but they are our focus for today!

  • First, don't forget our kids ride this Saturday, August 6th. We'll have fun, games, a nice ride, snacks, and swag - what more could you ask for?
  • Want to test out those new awesome skillz? Our friends at the Hilltop Conservancy are having their second annual Hilltop Grasshopper Race on Saturday, August 20th, and Team Town Cycle is a proud sponsor of their event! They have a lovely park in North Caldwell, and several of our TTC kids had a great time at their race last year. Geordie and his volunteers put on a great event last year, complete with goodies for the kids, and we know they will have an awesome event again this year. Hilltop Reservation is just about 30 minutes from West Milford, and a great place for your junior racer to get his or her racing feet wet!
  • Saturday, October 1st - in conjunction with IMBA, Team Town Cycle will hold our third annual Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day! Save the date, and stay tuned for details!
  • Hopefully you are enjoying our Ladies Night rides on Wednesdays on Clinton Road. Feel like that might be too much for you, or want to try out mountain biking instead? We love helping out our ladies get started (or re-acquainted!) with their bikes, and are happy to set up a beginner ride for you. Drop us a line at info@teamtowncycle.com and we'll hook you up!
  • Speaking of the girls and mountain biking, we have a "Save the Date" for you - a womens' mountain biking demo day! Our ladies road demo day and clinic was so successful, we wanted to do one in the woods as well. So, save the date of Saturday, October 15, 2011 - more details will follow.
As always, we love suggestions for rides or volunteers to lead rides, etc. Let us know if you want to join us!

Awesome Le Tour photos and some good news for DirecTV viewers

If you are missing your daily dose of Le Tour like we are, here are some amazing photos taken during the 3 weeks of the race. Caution - if your workplace would consider seeing most of Johnny Hoogerland's shorts removed during his State 9 crash a problem, then the first set would be considered NSFW.

Also, for those of you who have DirecTV, the Universal Sports Channel is being offered as a free preview this month! It is on channel 625, and is always having some sort of cycling goodness on.

Weekend plans

After a quiet weekend for TTC activites, we've got a full slate coming up this week.

  • Tuesday - another great night of trail work at Jungle Habitat for I Dig Tuesdays! Meet us at the JH gate at 6 p.m., bring your work gloves, bug spray and water.
  • Wednesday is Ladies night on Clinton Road! 6 p.m., at the old Village Square Inn Parking lot on Route 23 in Newfoundland. Come on out and join the girls on their weekly ride down Clinton Road.
  • So, you don't fall under the proper category for the Ladies Night ride ... Join us Friday instead, for our usual Friday Night party on Clinton Road. Same place, same time, same amount of fun!
  • Saturday August 6th - for those who have been looking for a weekend trail work day, here we go! Meet us at the Jungle Habitat gates at 8:30 a.m. - we'll be working by 9. We will be all wrapped up by 1 p.m. Bring your gloves, bug spray, water - we'll have the rest! If you miss us at the gate, call Dave VW at 973-390-6915 and he'll let you know where to find the group. Racers - get those PayDirt hours in now!
  • Saturday August 6th is also one of our great Kids Mountain Bike Ride and Skills days at Jungle Habitat. Meet us at 10 a.m., we'll try out some skills activities, take a loop around the kids race course, and then off for a longer ride for those who are game! We'll have snacks, water, and swag, thanks to TTC member Tim Warchol. Bring your own kid, your kid's friend, your neighbor's kid - we'd love to have them all! We could still use a few volunteers for the 2+ hours we'll be there - please won't you consider joining us?
  • Sunday, August 7, TTC members Steve and Martha Boshart will be leading a most awesome ride! It is a moderate paced 50 mile, no drop, regroup after hills road ride, leaving from Town Cycle at 9 AM. It will go out to Sugarloaf, NY, where we will grab a breakfast burrito at the old Train Station deli. We'll head back using Warwick back roads. We'll make a stop in Warwick Village at Grappa Market for Gatorade and Italian cookies before climbing back over the mountain back into West Milford. Expect about 48 miles with some moderate climbing, and 4 hours of riding with the breakfast stop. Rain will cancel as Martha doesn't like to ride with wet glasses! If someone wants to avoid the last climb home, they can break out at Warwick farmers market if they leave a car at Village beforehand.
So there you go, a smorgasbord of rides for all! Stay tuned for anything else we might cook up for the weekend!
