What's new for the week?

It's another busy week for Team Town Cycle - check out what we have going on!

  • Tuesday, May 10 - don't forget Tuesdays are trail work days at Jungle Habitat! I Dig Tuesdays, sponsored by JORBA, is a great way to spruce up existing trails at the Hab as well as break ground on some new trails. If you are a H2H racer, they are an easy way to get your PayDirt hours close to home! Meet us at the gate at 6 p.m., bring your gloves, bug spray and some water. We'll provide the tools - you provide the muscle!
  • Wednesday, May 11 - two events! Our usual Wednesday night ladies ride at Clinton Road is on! Meet us at the usual place - the old Village Square Inn at Clinton Road, Rt. 23, Newfoundland - 6 p.m. Great opportunity to try out the whole idea of group rides and pace lines!
  • Also on Wednesday, May 11 - we'll go mountain biking at the top of Skyline Drive in Ringwood. Meet us at 5:30 at the lot at the top of Skyline Drive. We'll check out the trails in the area and get a good ride in! Plan on riding until dark - 2 to 2.5 hours.
  • Friday, May 14 - the famous Friday night Clinton Road ride! Last week we had over 25 people on our ride - come out and see what all the fun is about! 6 p.m. - Village Square Inn Parking lot, Rt. 23, Newfoundland. Be there or be square!
  • Good luck on Sunday to the TTC racers who are competing the Bear Mountain Spring Classic! And it's not too late to decide to race at the 2nd Campmor H2H race of the year at Tymor Park in Lagrangeville, NY.
  • Also, please remember to vote in the poll to help us bring a pump track to West Milford. Want to know more about pump tracks? Here's a quick 411 on the subject! And tell your friends and family - they don't need to be West Milford residents to vote!

Later this week, look for some announcements about a special ladies event and an event dedicated to wine!

Help us bring more cycling to West Milford!

For the last few months, Team Town Cycle member and JORBA Executive Director Jeff Mergler has been working hard on a proposal to bring a pump track to West Milford. JORBA has already built NJ's first public pump track in Alexandria - watch the great video!

Having a pump track in West Milford would be a great gift to the kids (and adults!) in West Milford, as well as a great opportunity to bring more people and money in to local businesses in West Milford.

Jeff, along with TTC members Jay Huggins and David Van Wart have met with various West Milford Township committees and personnel over the last few months - the Recreation Advisory Committee, the Economic Development Committee, the Environment Commission, as well as the head of the township Recreation department to discuss possible locations and support for a project in West Milford.

The next steps will include talking to the West Milford town council - and that's where you come in! The West Milford Economic Development Committee has put a poll online to gauge interest in such a project. There are two bicycling related questions on the poll, which will take you all of 30 seconds to answer! Jeff Mergler and many of us in the cycling community endorse a hearty "YES" answer to both poll questions, and we hope you can join us! We'd like to collect as many "YES" votes as possible to show the council how much public support a project like this can garner. Please take a moment to answer the poll yourself, and please pass it along to anyone else who you think would support the development of these two cycling projects in West Milford.

All of us thank you for your time - and if you have any questions about the proposal, drop us a line at info@teamtowncycle.com, and we'll do our best to get them answered for you!

May 4 Ladies Ride on Clinton Road CANCELED!

Due to the less than lovely weather conditions today, we're canceling tonight's ladies ride on Clinton Road. If you are interested, Heather will host yoga at her house starting at 6 p.m. Please bring a yoga mat and something to contribute to potluck dinner, and RSVP to Heather to let her know you are coming!

Hopefully Mother Nature will be kinder to us next week!

Weekend wrap up, and the week ahead

Well, it was a whirlwind weekend for Team Town Cycle! We started off with our usual Friday night fun on Clinton Road, and it only got better from there!

We'll have more details and photos coming up, but we can say without reservation that the 3rd Annual Juniors in the Jungle Kids race was a complete success! Just look at Ethan and Austin's faces - they say it all! Stay tuned for more!

Sunday morning, our great group of TTC volunteers did their Clinton Road clean up. Among the "treasures" they found on the 2.4 mile stretch of road they cleaned - 37 big black bags of bottles, cans, fast food wrappers, plastic bags and general stuff, 1 car battery, 1 car cylinder head, a refrigeration compressor, 1 Jeep Cherokee front bumper, motorcycle parts and a ghost costume!

 And a stair stepper!

Team Town Cycle racers also held court Sunday at Waywayanda at the first Campmor H2H race of the season, showing off the plaid quite well! Wins by team members Norman Marin (battling back from injury - way to go Norman!), David Kahl and Dillon Van Wart, and podium finishes by Adam Vandenbos, and Jason Grossi, as well as great showings by Karen Bouloucon, Rich Vandenbos, Dave Van Wart, Amy McCann, Matt Kuchavik, Chris Byrnes and Rick Bauer made it an awesome showing for TTC!

And check out the home page for the Colts Neck Classic - who's that but our own BJ Kisch at the front! Nice going - way to represent!

So, with that awesome weekend behind us, here's what's up for the week ahead.

  • Don't forget, I Dig Tuesdays are going on at Jungle Habitat. Meet us at 6 p.m. at the gate - bring gloves, water, bug spray. Get your PayDirt hours in now!
  • Wednesday is Ladies Night on Clinton Road. Be ready to ride at 6 p.m. at the old Village Square Inn parking lot on Route 23 in Newfoundland. In case of rain, please RSVP to Heather for yoga and potluck dinner at her house. Bring your yoga mat and let her know what you can contribute to dinner!
  • Friday night ride - start time change! We've finally gotten enough light to move the start time back to 6 p.m. Be ready to ride at 6 p.m. at the old Village Square Inn parking lot on Route 23 in Newfoundland. If you are not use to group rides, this is a great way to get some experience!
  • Saturday, May 7 - if your young cyclist wants to do some more racing, Team Bulldog is holding their annual Kids race at Kittatinny State Park. They always put on a great race, and Kittatinny is a great venue for everyone!
  • Saturday, May 7, we'll go for a mountain bike ride at Waywayanda. This is a great prep and intro ride for anyone racing the Bearscat 50, but of course anyone is welcome! It'll be an intermediate paced ride (Cat.2/3), and somewhere from 2-3 hours long. We'll meet at the boat launch at 10:30 a.m.
  • Sunday - do something nice for the mom's in your life!
A week with a little something for everyone! As always, let us know if need more information about any of our events - info@teamtowncycle.com.
