You asked for them - we have them! The Friday night Clinton Road ride is back!
Meet in the Village Square Inn/Pizza parking lot, on Rt. 23 North, across from the restaurant. Ride out and back…mixed groups up Clinton Road to the end and back. This is an easy paced road ride…about a 20 miles round trip. Good first timer ride as you can turn around earlier if you want and there will be multiple groups and paces. A great ride to learn how to ride in a small group, or learn how “draft”. As the ride gains experience and the weeks go by we may break into multiple levels of “pace line” for the return trip. If you don’t know what that is…no worries…that’s one of the reasons to come out…you will get a chance to learn and have fun! This is also a great ride for a new junior rider! We encourage all to stop for a beverage or slice at the Village Square Inn after the ride.
The calendar on our sidebar has all the info for our ride dates! We're constantly adding and updating, so check back often.

General ride information
Now that we are starting to stack our Team Town Cycle calendar with rides, rides and more rides, this would probably be a good time to go over some basic information for rides, weather conditions, meeting times, etc.
Our Weather Policy - As a general rule, if it's raining hard enough that you wouldn't want to cut the lawn, we more than likely will not be riding in it either. If there is severe weather predicted (lightning, hail, snow, etc.), we definitely won't be riding. On road rides, if it is a scheduled ride specifically for new riders or juniors who are still learning to handle a bike, we'll cancel - wet roads are no place to learn! For mountain bike rides, our policy is to remain OFF fragile mountain bike trails when there is rain or deep mud, and stick to fire roads and carriage trails.
That being said, you never know when it comes to northern New Jersey weather. It could be raining down in the 287 valley, snowing in West Milford, and sunny in between. What we are saying is ... be flexible - and be prepared! You might be surprised at the weather we ride in! With proper clothing and common sense, a little water never stopped a ride. If the weather looks "iffy" or unpredictable, come with a rain cape and be ready to get wet. It could be sunny when a ride begins, and pouring at the halfway point.
We will do our best not to make any last minute changes, but keep your eyes open and check the Team Town Cycle website for last minute time or ride schedule changes. If the weather looks bad in the A.M. and better in the P.M., we may "swap" a morning ride for an afternoon ride. Either way, we are all just looking for a way to get out there and ride, have fun, and keep the rubber side down!
Our Meet/Leave Policy - Our intent is to leave promptly at the designated ride time. We understand people plan other events around ride times, so it is important we do our best to keep on schedule. However, if you are coming and are running late, give a quick call. If possible, we will try to have someone hang back for you.
Parking Courtesy - Common sense prevails here, but worth a reminder. Some of our rides meet at the parking lots of local businesses. They are providing this space as a courtesy and convenience to us, and it is important that we don't abuse it. When we meet at Town Cycle, please be aware of activities at both the shop and at the church, and park accordingly. For rides meeting at The Village Square Inn - again, let's not use the spaces right next to the front door. Also, perhaps we could express our appreciation for the use of their lots through the purchase of a post ride Clif bar/adult beverage/slice of pizza? Wherever we park, let's remember to show some manners!
We'll be posting more rides later today, so check back in with us to see if you can join us as we hit the roads and the trails!

Mountain Bike Ride April 1, Jungle Habitat
No, this isn't an April Fool's Day joke - it's our first weekday evening ride of the year! Meet us at the Jungle Habitat parking lot at 5:30 - we'll ride until dark. The weatherman certainly isn't promising sun, but we're going to give it a try. In case of light rain/drizzle, we'll still ride, but heavier rain will see us at home on the trainer!

Spring Trail Maintenance Dates for JH are up!
If you are looking for some dates to get your Paydirt points, or just to get out in the woods and play in the dirt for a little while, we've posted Jungle Habitat trail maintenance dates in our Google calendar (see left sidebar). As requested, we've tried to mix up Saturdays and Sundays to accommodate as many different schedules as possible. Later in April, we will probably try to do an occasional weekday after work session as well. Check back in for those sometime next month!
Don't forget to support our other local parks trail maintenance programs when you can - Waywayanda and Ringwood both have lots of trails to maintain as well, and always welcome the extra help!

Sat. 3/28 ride - we hope!
Weather notwithstanding, we're going to try to pull off a road ride Sat., 3/28. We'll meet at noon at Town Cycle, and plan on going around Greenwood Lake. Light rain won't stop us, but downpours will - let's keep our fingers crossed!

Trail Maintenance at Jungle Habitat
Forgive the late reminder, but just in case you were looking for a way to enjoy our spring-like temperatures, come join us tomorrow, March 8, for some trail work at Jungle Habitat! We'll meet as usual at 8:45 a.m. Be prepared to get muddy, bring some gloves and water, and we'll supply the tools. For the racers out there, remember - it's never too early to get started on your 2009 PayDirt points!
