More Cross Country Skiing!

Well, seeing as the snow won't quit, neither will we! We had a great time cross country skiing on Sunday - we had a great group, including 4 beginners, who did great! So - let's do it again this weekend. We'll meet at the High Point XC Ski Area on Sunday, February 28, at 12 noon. Please check the ski area's website on Sunday morning to check conditions - with the impending snow, they will need time to groom the trails.

As always, if you have any questions - drop us a line at info@teamtowncycle.com.

2nd Annual Juniors in the Jungle Kids Race

It's almost that time again! In just over 2 months, we will be hosting our second Annual Juniors in the Jungle Mountain Bike Race. This was a great event last year - we had 80 participants, and we're hoping for even more this year.

Once again, we will have 2 separate races - one for grades K-5, and one for grades 6-12. The race will take place at our favorite local state park, Jungle Habitat, on Saturday, April 24. For more info, see the links to the flyers to the left, or check on the "Races" page at www.teamtowncycle.com . Early registration is also open at www.bikereg.com - just search for "Juniors in the Jungle"!

We are also happy to again be teaming up with our friends at Team Bulldog to combine our races for the NJ State Middle and High School Championship - check out more info at their website - www.teambulldog.com.

As the race gets closer, we will post maps of the courses. As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at info@teamtowncycle.com.

Jungle Habitat trail work dates !

Yes, it's hard to imagine trail work under our current conditions, but eventually the snow will melt, so we're planning ahead! JORBA has announced 3 Sunday dates in March, April and May, as well as the return of I Dig Tuesdays trail work dates.

The spring Sunday dates are:
  • Sunday, March 14
  • Sunday, April 11
  • Sunday, May 9 (Bring Mom out - she'll receive a special gift!)

For all dates above, we'll meet at the front gate between 8:30am and 8:45am for sign in and project review. We'll head to the work site promptly at 8:50am.

Project Details: We're going to be working on 3 areas: a new trail called Cages, a new connection between the top of Otter Slide and the Tanks, and Otter Slide Phase 2. You know what this means, right? Not only will the road ride climb soon be a faint memory, but the double track will soon be history too! We will have 100% singletrack between the bottom of Otter Slide all the way to the entrance of Tiger Pen. How sweet will that be?

Starting June 8th through the fall, we're going to resume I Dig Tuesdays after work trail building nights. For these weeknight trail work dates, we'll meet at the gate at 5:45pm and drive to the work site and work until dark. Most likely, the water tanks will be the rally point for this trail work too.

If you have any questions, email us at info@teamtowncycle.com, or check out www.jorba.org.

P.S. For all you H2H racers out there - it's never too early to start thinking about PayDirt points - don't wait until October again!

Snow!

The weather hasn't been exactly conducive to riding these days! So, we've decided to deal with what we've got - snow!

If you've got a set of snow shoes, join us at Waywayanda on Saturday morning, February 20, at 10 a.m. Let's park by the ranger station, and we'll spend an hour and a half or two tromping through the snow, taking in the sights and getting some exercise!

UPDATE: A few generous people have offered up snow shoes to borrow - if you are interested, drop us a line, we'll help you connect! There are even a few kid sized pairs!

If cross country skiing is more your style, we've got that too. Sunday, February 21, meet us at noon at the High Point Cross Country Ski area for some cross country skiing. For trail rates and ski rental costs, check out the website at http://xcskihighpoint.com/ . What a great spot for cross country skiing - great views, and a great workout!

Any questions about logistics, etc., drop us a line at info@teamtowncycle.com .
